Upon completion of Nbio 301 and 302, students may apply for entry into
the honors program in neurobiology. Admission will be based on performance
in Nbio 301 and 302, and on individual interviews. In addition to the
above requirements, to receive an honors degree students must:
(a) Maintain a GPA of 3.4 or higher in all required courses;
(b) Conduct an independent research project in the laboratory
of a faculty member in the program (Nbio 499) for a least 3 quarters
(minimum 3 credits per quarter). At least 2 quarters of this research
must be done after completion of Nbio 302;
(c) Write a senior thesis based on this project, in the form
of a scientific manuscript, and have it approved by the faculty mentor
and one other faculty member in the program; and
(d) Attend a weekly journal club in neurobiology (Nbio 450;
2 credits, C/NC) for at least two quarters. The program can help honors
students finda laboratory that matches their interests.
