pissarro mutants have severe defects in several traits. Melanophore morphogenesis is disrupted beginning during metamorphosis (movie). During early adult stages, pissarro mutants develop cataracts. Dermal bones of the fins also are small, irregularly shaped, and fractured. We are now working to identify the gene affected in these fish.
